The very appealing city square with its fresh water fountain.
The very flash Lydmar Hotel where we rested up with an afternoon drink.
The Vasa museum named after the boat of the same name. This boat was launched on its maiden voyage 390 years ago today. Within a 1000 metres she was listing in part due to the 64 heavy bronze cannons that were so high on the ship. She was also over built, in that her decks were unnessarily heavy. She stood no chance and sunk in Stockholm harbour. She lay there untill 1961 at which time a massive salvage operation brought her to the surface. Almost all of the original ship was recovered but in many parts. All the original steel bolts had rusted away. (these were renewed immediately but have since failed again. A special metal was deveoped by a Swedish company and those are now in the process of all being replaced again. The museum offers an amazing insight to the world that existed for all those involved in the King's desire to bring more of the Baltic under control of Sweden.
Grant had to try Swedish Meatballs in Sweden. He was very pleased he did too. Delicious.
We rested up, but failed to cool down on a floating bar.
