Monday 6th August - London

Quieter day while we wait for Brett to arrive back from Sweden. On his arrival we walked to a local cafe for a light lunch. Later we bussed to the city, exiting near Tower Bridge. Lunched on the banks of the Thames with a view of one of the best bridges in the world.

It's so nice to sit in the shade on these hot days. Just getting out of the direct sunlight, makes for a really comfortable place to bide time.

Our standard drink (Aperol Spritz).

For dinner we walked to a new place near London Bridge station. They do a "buck a shuck" for oysters for early birds. We also took advantage of their byo Monday night. Not even corkage! One of the staff was from Tawa.

I could try and pretend that this one was for you grandad. I hope you enjoyed it as much as i did.

A not untypical evening scene at Brett's. The scaffolding is still there from some roof repairs last week.

When it was time for bed we realised that a street party was going on right outside the house. Neighbours were out in force with a bbq cooking away. Unfortunately they decided (kids and all) to keep up their happy activities till well into the morning hours. Brett noticed that the police arrived and spoke to them on a couple of occasions, but they seemed happy to leave things be. Turned out to be Jamaican national day.
