Saturday 28th July

We had a visitor on the lawn this morning. This is not Fox News, it is for real.

We went into the city for our midday tour of Roman ruins under a building alongside the Thames. We only just made it in time as there were many road closures because of a family cycle event taking place all day. The ruins were quite interesting, dating back to 40AD. The house was built before the Roman's built their wall around London. The thinking is that after the wall was built, the property lost its view of the river so the front yard was converted into a bath house. Much of the heating system for the bath house is in full view today. We had lunch nearby before walking back to Brett's for the rest of the afternoon.

The source of the heat. This was an interesting visit and a short history lesson at the same time.

We all dined together at a New Orleans place tonight. All the authentic dishes and then some. Lots of laughs and a good catchup with Hayden & Lizzy.
