Thursday 16th August - London

First day back from the IOW and with Brett at work we plan to make our way to Kensington High Street for some retail action. After looking at all the options we chose to use the busses as the best way to move around. It is raining so we have to prepare for that too. The trip to Kensington was good because although we had bus changes, we did not have to move between bus stops in the process. Just before we arrived, the chap seated behind Grant tapped him on the shoulder and gave him a poncho in a pack. We asked him to keep his pack but he was very kind and insistant that he have it. Grant had Grandad's foldup brolly in his bag. We sought out a place to have lunch, opting for Ole & Steen, a Danish bakery and cafe. Philippa ordered a sweet cake, but it was all too much sugar and most was left on the plate. Visits to T K Max, Curry's, H & M and Boots filled in the shopping experience. We personalised the bus selection for the return trip and all went well. The weather is fine again now. At one of the stops near the horse guards we noticed that the ggs were not there. We wondered when they finished for the day.

We later walked to Casse Croute for dinner where Brett caught up soon after the 6:30pm booking. We selected a nice expensive red wine (twice) and had a really nice meal cooked by a chef who will not receive instructions, in a very small & cramped room. The food was out of this world.

At kick out time (8pm) we started the walk back home. Brett was keen to finish the evening off with yet more alcohol, but Grant in his wisdom knew when he had had enough. Grant continued on to home while the other two selected a place to sit for a while.
