Thursday 9th August - Stockholm
Luntmakargatan 59, 113 58 Stockholm, Sweden
The apartment was fine for our needs, very handy and clean. It was oh so hot in there though.
After a troubled sleep even with the windows wide open, we ventured off without breakfast to walk around the town. We discovered a rather fancy cafe and sat in the shade with an Aperol Spritz and pastries.

From there we walked to find a place for lunch that Brett knew about. It took a bit of finding but we were soon settled in and trying out the Toast Skagen. We opted for the full sized rather than the entree size. That was a mistake. Great to try, and lovely bread as usual, but we couldn't eat everything. We left to grab an Uber to take us to Abba. We were surprised to see quite a long, slow queue to buy tickets. We noticed an empty queuing space for pre-bookings. Grant popped online and bought three tickets within a few minutes. We presented these to the entry arm and within another couple of minutes we were inside the museum starting our look around.
We did the Abba thing because we could. It was over priced and it under performed in our view. We are very pleased we saw it, but there was not much new to learn in the process.
After Abba we Ubered to a floating bar to enjoy a drink and the sights of some of the vast water areas that make up Sweden and Stockholm especially. When we Ubered back wer asked the driver to drop us off at any H&M store near our apartment, (H&M is Swedish) as Grant wanted to buy a belt. On our walk back to the apartment, we passed the only licenced bottle store operation in Sweden. The government is very strick regarding alcohol and there is just this one company, with stores around the country that can lawfully sell alcohol.
Back in the room, Brett played Abba on his iPad as we prepared for dinner.
This is a particularly spectacular avenue when in flower. Right place - wrong time.
Stockholm seems to have a lot of statues.
It was just a short walk to the restaurant. A combination of the walk and the crazy temperature inside the restaurant had us go close to calling it off. We held strong and managed the main meal, but is was not a pleasant experience under these conditions. Grant asked that we have our desert (crème brûlée all round) outside and they arranged that for us. So much more pleasant. We walked back, happy with our first full day in Stockholm.
