Tuesday 21st August
After breakfast we walked out to the beach to check on what services are still offered there. We discovered that much is unchanged. Philippa has booked a pedicure and Grant a massage, both around 11:40 am.
These were both had and we were happy with the results.
Caught up with the kiddlies on the devices and got updated on what they had been doing in New Zealand.
We booked in online to the Ferringhi Garden restaurant for 7pm. A trishaw was parked in the resort so we asked about the fare for the quick 1km trip to the restaurant. He wanted 30RM which is about $12 so we didn't take him up on that offer. We walked the distance at a slow pace so the heat build up wouldn't be too much. We were a little late but it was no problem. We were seated near a waterfall and the stream just like the last time we were there. It was as lovely as always. We opted for a German grape / french bottled Gewurtz Traminer and that was near perfect. It was quite expensive, even by Malaysian terms. We shared a plate of skewers and followed up with shelled tiger prawns for Philippa and a lamb shank for Grant. Around the time we were about to leave, the sky became an ominous shade and the staff started to rush around sorting out cover. We soon found another trishaw and he also wanted 30RM. We once again said we would walk rather pay him 2hrs wages for a 2 minute journey. About half way home, the weather was still holding off okay, we asked another trishaw rider for a fare. He wanted 25RM, so we said no. A bit of bargaining ensued with us offering 10RM and he stuck with 25RM. He tried to show us how hard it was to peddle his bike, but we waved him away. Another bloke overheard the bargaining and called us to say for 10RM he would take us in his car. We couldn't really go back on what we had offered so we hopped in and a young moonightling student took us to the resort's front door.
